    Splendid Wind River Shoshone Parfleche Authentic late 1880’s.
    Really spectacular design and still has vibrant colors even though it does show use. 26” x 14”. Made of either elk or rawhide. Described to me as Wind River Shoshone when I purchased it several decades ago. Shows the many characteristics of Wind River Shoshone design as described in Mable Morrows book, “Indian Rawhide”. Includes characteristic painting on inside flaps, not common, and also the brown outline. Shoshone often used green and brown for outlines. This one uses brown. No black. Shows a very intricate design elements. The center diamonds are also Wind River Shoshone motifs. Done with great skill this is a very special Parfleche. Raise your sights and own a true museum quality relic from a time gone by. Shows appropriate age and wear from use. But still in very good condition. It needs a new caretaker. Enjoy!
