Salt Glazed Stoneware Pewter Lidded Stein with Stylized Rooster
A Wim Muhlendyck piece, this salt glazed stoneware stein is part of his stylized animals works. The stein is incised with a rooster stylized in glossy shades of tans and blue, long grass and on each side of the handle, a single spiral with blue glazed center. The inside shows this stein was made on a hand wheel. A working pewter lid sits perfectly atop this stoneware piece. The handle is a good size and glazed deep blue like the trim at the bottom of the stein. This stein is in excellent condition with no user wear, cracks or chips. The pewter lid has some flaws on the underside which do not effect the seal of the lid closure. The metals on this stein have not been cleaned nor polished to preserve their original condition for the buyer. Stein measures 6 ½" H to thumb pull, 5" H to rim, about 5 ½" W front to handle, 3 ¼" diameter rim, 3 ⅞" diameter base and holds as much as 20 oz.
