Phillies circa 1970 “Retired” Jersey #1 Flannel Jersey: with LOA
After hunting, digging and rooting around, I decided to send this jersey away to be inspected by one of the best in the hobby. TOTALLY ORIGINAL
Wilson made Professional model Phillies home flannel baseball jersey attributed to the 1970 season. It is in superb condition. It is absent moth holes, rips/tears.
The numbers and Phillies “P” are the unique “Swiss-style” utilized by the Phillies. It has been signed by Frank Lucceshi who was the Phillies manager in 1970 and donned the jersey #1. The style of Wilson label in the collar places the jersey manufacturer within the 1970 period.

his jersey may have been part of what started it all back in 1970.
·

ecause of the placement of the #1, this may be an initial early offering by Wilson.
·
The Phillies only wore flannel jerseys for 2 years.
·
They wore knit “yuppie” design jerseys for 22 years.
So, along those lines, of the thousands of Phillies jerseys that were worn and issued, how many of these exist? Perhaps a handful? This may be the only known example
Be sure to check out my other auctions for other Phillies unique items to include Richie Allen and Johnny Callison bats as well as a World Series Jersey from 1993.
