On May 29, 2017 — Memorial Day — the Oakland Athletics visited the Cleveland Indians at Progressive. Daniel Mengden started for the A’s, while Carlos Carrasco went for the Indians. Cleveland wore special jerseys to honor of Memorial Day. The Indians won 5-3 behind hits by Michael Brantley, Carlos Santana, Edwin Encarnacion, Jose Ramirez, Yan Gomes, Bradley Zimmer, and Austin Jackson. (Jason Kipnis and Francisco Lindor went hitless.) This jersey was issued to Abraham Almonte on that day. The jersey is home white with military-green letters and numbers. It has “Indians” in script across the chest. The back has Almonte’s name and number (#35). The left sleeve has a C patch, and the right has a five-stars patch. The jersey is MLB Authenticated as team issued to Almonte on May 29, 2017. There are dirt stains along the bottom of the back, which may indicate game use (although more likely poor storage by the Indians given that the tags do not appear washed). (See photo of stain.)
