Merkelbach & Wick Target Girl German Stein Vintage M and W

Description

Wonderful vintage German Merkelbach & Wick / M&W lidded beer stein with a depiction of Schutzenliesl, "Target Girl", made famous by Kaulbach's painting "Die Schutzenliesl". It looks like it's marked Schutzenliesl I, as if there was a series, but I know almost nothing about these. I love the raised lid design of a Renaissance type soldier. It's marked with the impressed M&W mark on the underside.
About 8" high excluding the thumb rest and holds 1 liter.
Excellent condition -- no chips or cracks, just minor expected scratch type wear and what looks like a little soil near the bottom on one side, nothing significant.
