Hopi coiled basket or poota, is a style which is made only in the villages on Second Mesa. It is woven of galleta grass/
    sühü
and sewn with yucca/ (Yucca angustisima) called
    mooho
    in Hopi.
Willow wicker baskets are known as
    yungyapu
in Hopi. A shallow wicker basket or plaque is called a yungyapngölökpu. It is woven of sumac (rhus trilobata), called suuvi in Hopi and rabbit brush (chrysothamnus), called siváapi.
Baskets remain an important part of Hopi life and the Hopi themselves are the biggest customers for Hopi baskets

EBAY IS A BUYER BEWARE MARKET!:
BY THE WAY - WATCH OUT FOR ALL THE FAKE " HOPI KACHINA MASKS "  OR " NATIVE AMERICAN HOPI PUEBLO MASKS ", ALSO BEING LISTED AS " HOOD" OR "HELMET" ON EBAY LATELY - THESE ARE MADE IN AFRICA (SOLD FROM EUROPE, i.e. POLAND, FRANCE...), MADE TO LOOK OLD, BUT ARE POOR CONTEMPORARY REPRODUCTIONS. MOST OF THEM DO NOT EVEN ACTUALLY LOOK LIKE THE REAL KACHINA MASKS BUT ARE BEING SOLD TO NAIVE BUYERS AS AUTHENTIC. CONTACT ME IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS BUT RESEARCH OLD AND AUTHENTIC HOPI KACHINA MASKS AND KACHINAS SO YOU DO NOT GET RIPPED OFF - EBAY IS A BUYER BEWARE MARKET FOR THESE ITEMS!!!
THERE ARE SOME FAKE KACHINAS ON EBAY NOW  AS WELL - THESE ARE CONTEMPORARY AND FRAUDULENT, BUT MADE TOO LOOK OLD (I.E. WITH FAKE BUG HOLES AND ARTIFICIALLY AGED PAINT, CRACKS IN WOOD AND SO FORTH). THEY ARE AMERICANA FOLK DOLLS IF ANYTHING, NOT KACHINAS. BE SURE TO RESEARCH AND LOOK AT ESTABLISHED REFERENCE BOOKS FOR THE TRADITIONAL KACHINA TYPES, PAINT, FORMS AND MATERIALS USED .... FEEL FREE TO CONTACT ME IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS ABOUT A SPECIFIC KACHINA, I WILL REFER YOU TO SOME REFERENCES.
