circa 1966/67 Red Sox Jersey:
Offered is an authentic Boston Red Sox flannel jersey
which has been signed on the front by hurler Joe Dobson along with a "To Duke" inscription. In photo 5, the Tim McAuliffe & size 42 tags are sewn on but loose in the area where someone purposely removed the year tag. An outline of the removed year tag remains. "Red Sox” is on the front while the #15 is sewn on the verso.
BOTH ARE ORIGINAL.
The jersey entered the hobby via MEARS. The MEARS LOA states its from the late 1960’s. Based on the sleeve stripes and the design of the McAuliffe tag, I was able to narrow it to either 1966 and 1967.
A JSA COA (signature) will accompany the jersey.
After retiring as a active player, Joe stayed active within the Red Sox nation. He was a part-time scout, attended spring training and various club sponsored events. He became the Winter Haven general manager in 1972. Based on his service as a player and
ambassador
to the club and players like Ted Williams and others, Dobson was indicted into the Red Sox Hall of Fame.
As a active player, he pitched for the Red Sox from 1946-50 & wore the jersey number 15 in 1954 but again, what remains of the tagging array is more consistent with 1966, 1967 issue.
