The stein depicted in this auction was made by the J. W. Remy firm of Germany.  The stein is pottery, etched with a etched inlaid lid. The stein is in full vivid  color and the size is 0.5 L.  The form number is 730.  The name of the stein is "A Cheerful Song".  The firm of J.W. Remy was founded in the Westerwald town of Höhr by Johann Wilhelm Remy in 1864. Although it managed to survive for more than 100 years, and through two World Wars, the company finally succumbed to the pressures of slowing demand and was forced to terminate operations in 1966.
