    Description

Antique German Blown Glass Character Beer Stein - Man's Face c.1910s
    Description:
This amazing beer stein was manufactured in the late 1910s. It belongs to the "character" stein family - beer steins made in form of things or persons. This is probably the most collectible category of antique beer steins. However, glass character steins are extremely rare.
The stein is made of hand-blown crystal glass in the form of a human head with the face made of applied glass pieces, like prunts forming a nose, eyes and mouth. The glass is clear with a slightly purplish tint - very nice and attractive.
The lid is made of pressed metal with only finial and hinge made of pewter. This type of lid was usually made in times of war when the pewter became too expensive. Judging by the lid and the thumblift I asssume the stein was made around 1916 - 1918,
    The stein
    is in
    excellent
    condition
with only some age-related wear on the lid
    It is 6.25" tall, 0.5 L capacity.
