Description
****Here is an excellent Imperial German beer stein, showing its roots with a Prussian unit, and one that operated high sigh torpedo boats, basically battleship destroyers. This a rather ornate stein, with the typical hand-painted surfaces, with gold paint accenting this piece. It is named to a Kalthoff, who served in this unit from 1907-1910. The front shows a large ship sailing forward, flying the Imperial war flag. It also shows a Prussian cross, and two sailors standing with their flags. The left side shows more ships and sailors rowing, with the right showing large ships and sailors with maidens. The back shows more gold paint on the handle, with the names of the men who served in this unit. Atop this stein is a sailor holding up his flag, with a Prussian eagle as the thumb lever. There are no markings on the bottom of this stein, though it does have the lithophane one would expect to see. This stein measures 10 1/2 inches.............See Images****
